Cherry Blossoms

I love Cherry Blossoms and what better theme for a wedding or bridal shower. Cherry Blossoms represent new growth, love, affection and good fortune. Their history is hundreds of years old and their symbolism is strong and dynamic. What better representation to the beginning of your new life than a flower that represents love, good fortune and affection and has stood the test of time.

This is a fun colorful theme that can also be done on a budget with simple touches. It's colors and decor will create a contemporary theme with flair and won't hurt your budget. The following are just a few inexpensive ideas on creating an overall theme.

Glass vases full of Cherry Blossom stems
Glass vases with floating candles
Vases with large twigs and paper lanterns hanging from the branches
Paper Lanterns
Paper Umbrellas
Paper Fans
Pink and Chocolate table linens

Fortune Cookies
Chinese food served with chopsticks
Pink candy buffet with chinese food containers to go
Cherry themed desserts
Individual Cupcakes with fondant cherry blossoms on top

Thoughts are Things & What the Heck!

My daughter, Jessica......... Mom

So yesterday after having my panic "heart attack" that turned out to be indigestion, I end up spending today in the hospital with my Mom who is waiting for a bed on the cardiac floor. She is okay thank goodness, they just want to run some tests, but it really is never ok when your Mom is in the hospital. She has five stints and was at a check up appointment with the Cardiologist whom she told she was having chest pressure and felt it was due to the change in medications. (My Mom is a retired NICU nurse and she thinks she knows everything and everyone else doesn't know what they are talking about, sorry Mom) She just wanted to get her meds changed and next thing she knows she is in the emergency room having tests run, waiting for a bed on the cardiac floor and a stress test scheduled for the morning. She is not happy about being in the hospital, which I don't blame her, but better to be safe than sorry. Mom will be fine but my ego has been detrimentally damaged due to that unexpected trip to the hospital.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO YOU? At the hospital I had to check in at the receptionists desk and show photo id so that I could see my Mom in the emergency room. I pull out my drivers license, whose photo of course is almost 20 years old, and as the receptionist hands it back to me she says "That was better days." what the heck!!! If I hadn't been so upset about my Mom I might have come up with a reply something like "Looks like you've seen better days too!" but I was just in shock.

AND IF THAT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH.....while the nurse who I hunted down to find out what the test results were for my Mom asks me if she is my daughter.........what the heck!! I'm almost afraid to go back and visit her tonight, don't think me ego can take much more.

Actually thought I looked good today, no baseball cap and make up on, so much for the effort. It's kind of like one of those days when you think you actually look pretty good and people keep telling you you look tired, what the heck!!!

Simple Happiness

Since the beginning of the year "we" have been implementing many changes with our websites, blogs, seo work, linking, networking, etc. and it has been an overwhelming process. When you own your own business you have to wear many hats, I feel like I have so many on that my head has disappeared, which is probably a good job because I need a hair cut and color. While last year was a phenomenal year and I hope for this year to be the same I still can't help but worry about the economic fallout, hence we are doing everything we can to market more and in doing so we are doing it all ourselves. Between learning web programs, and all new technical things, homeschooling my son and trying to keep an active household in check today I am feeling extremely overwhelmed. It didn't help that I had a severe case of chest pain, which of course my first thought was "heart attack", so I had my pity party for a few minutes, pictured myself in the er with everyone around my bed and the opportunity to not be responsible if only for a few days, but then I realized I would miss my dinner date. I then of course snapped out of it, because I don't have time for a heart attack, so I did what any reasonable person would do and asked for some alka seltzer, and it worked, INDIGESTION was all it was. So now I put on my big girl panties and deal with it, between phone calls and searching through a gazillion photos to update the photo gallery I found this photo. I love sunflowers, in fact I am a fan of all wildflowers, they are tough, they outlast the pretty fancy ones and they always bring a smile to my face.

After finding the photo and reading the sentiment, I again remember my dinner date tonight. One of our clients is Valentino Restaurant a fabulously, wonderful restaurant with amazing food and ambience, which we have had the pleasure of decorating many times. We have been a few times for dinner and leave our ordering up to the head waiter Mossimo, who is the most entertaining Italian I know. He always surprises us with 8 to 9 courses and of course excellent wine to accompany each course. I LOVE DINING AT VALENTINO and I get to go tonight. YUMMM I can't wait. So thank you Rachel for inviting us to dine at Valentino, you have definitely spread some sunshine into my life today.

Twitter, what?who?

Today I signed up for twitter, not quite sure how it works, or how to use it, but I heard it was good for networking and business promotion. and for a few brief moments seemed easier than facebook I decided to give it a go. So far I just feel like a stalker, searching for people I might know who might have an account. They saw you can e-mail people to follow you, but haven't figured that part out. So if you are on twitter and feel like giving me a TWEET and maybe at the same time you can give me some tips I would be extremely happy. So I have decided since I don't know where to go or who to see, I am taking on the mantra "build it and they will come" and will just twitter away and hope to meet some people.
